What is counted?

• Words: groups of characters separated by whitespace.
• Characters: every letter, number, symbol, space, and line break.
• Sentences: text groups ending in common sentence punctuation.
• Reading time: an estimate based on roughly 225 words per minute.

Writing within a limit

Draft freely first, then remove repeated ideas and weak filler words. Character limits often include spaces, while some publishing systems count them differently, so always check the destination's own rules.
